E-reflection for PETA ; School experience week 2

This is my reflection for school experience 2. On this week I did the team teaching with my partner. There are so many interesting things in the school experience. Actually I taught the students lonely. So, my partner only acompany me in the class but not taught the students. As I said before that I used group interaction model in my class, and it worked. But actually when I observed my friend class, it didn't work. Most of the students didn't work in group, they just chated with her friends. Based on this case, I know there is no the best model of instruction, it is depend on the studens' characeristic. If you use group interaction but your students doesn't like work in group, so they will not join in the group.
On this week I always taught and observed the students in grades 12 both in social and science class. I found that there are some differences between social and science class. Actually we know that science class is more polite and pay attention with the teacher. While in the social class was very difficult to teach them because most of them can not pay attention with the teacher. If we want to teach the social class and creat the condusive situation we have to grab their attention by some interesting techniques. That is the real situation that I found in the school experience. In addition, if we talking about the students' ability in english, the social class is better than the science class in 82 Senior High School. It is showed based on the score in the listening and reading test, also based on the ability to speak english. In the social class most of the students spook in english but in the science class most of them spook in bahasa.
After I observed my class I interviewed my master teacher about the teaching techniques and the models of instruction he used in the class. Based on his explanation I got so many references to teach my students. My master teacher used some model of instruction, like lecture discussion and direct instruction. But if the group interaction he reraly used it. My master tecacher said that he always flexible in the class. But he only focus in peaking and listening. So, he always pushed his students to speak english.
Based on the knowledge that my master teaher gave to me, I know that the important things in the teaching process are we have to give our students the attractive material, prepare the teaching tools, and mastering the material. If we have those things, we can sucess in teahing process. He also told me how to grab the student's attention. And now, in my opinion so difficult to grab the students attention. We have to think creatively to creat the attractive way to make our students pay attention, even make my voice be louder is one of the way to grab the students' attention.
I very proud with the school experience programe, because I got so many experience and knowledge to be a teacher.

e-reflection school experience 1th for PETA


This is the 1th reflection journal for school experience week one. In this school experience I have been observed in 82nd senior high school. When i satrted the school experience in the first day i just knew that my master teacher used english when he taught their students.  Fortunetly, we have to speak english all the time when we do the team teaching.
Actually for the first day we only observed the english class. So the teacher asked me to observed the listening section in 10th and 12th gardes. In the listening section i found that there was some students that cheated their friends’ answer. Well, i know that maybe cheating is common in Indonesia school today. That’s why i interested in this topic and i want to observed about this later.
In  the second day we devided the schedule for do the team teaching. Actually in the schedule we have to do the team teaching in the next week but in the real situation i have done it with my partner today. Fortunetly my master teacher let us to taught the students during the english class, so we taught the students from the begining until the ending of the class. In the team teaching we used some models of interaction. It is consits of lecture discussion, direct instruction and group interaction. So we used direct instruction for gave the material, and we used lecture discussion to know the student’s understanding about the meterial, and the last one we used the group interaction in discussion activity to made students more active during the class.
Based on my experience when i did team teaching today, in my opinion the group interaction and the lecture discussion is the effective instruction to make the students be active and more easy to get the material. Actually the students in 82nd senior high school is good in english, they can understand what i said and they can speak in english. So, it makes me easy to teach them.

The 3rd reflection journal TLL by mutamainnah


                This is my reflection about topic 8 that technology to teach speaking. Based on the article I know that technology can help  teachers  to teach some of the language skills to their students. For example, in the previous meeting I learned about technology to teach listening, and for the next meeting we will learn about technology to teach speaking. As we know that listening and speaking are two of the language skills. The language skills it self are listening, reading, speaking and writing.
                Talk about technology related to language skills are very important for me because I am as a english teacher for the future have to know deeply about these material. Especially about the technology itself. As we know that technology is dinamic. It can be improve during the time run away. And as a teacher I believe that my students may be will have more skills in technology. But, I agree with my lecture said in the last meeting. He said that to solve this issues,  as a teacher we have to know that we should be  concerned in the methodology and the materials we want to give to our students, while we shouldn’t to the technology. If we already know about our method or our materials, so we can find some of the technology wich is can help me in teaching proccess and also encourage the learning proccess.
                As a result , I realy like this lesson because it is not only tell us about the technology itself, but also about the theory about technology and also theory about language learning and the relationship between all of them.

e-reflection for PETA by mutmainnah


                This morning was the 3rd meeting in PETA course. In this session we learned about the models of instructions. So, it is like the way of teaching that common used by indonesia teacher. I think it was interesting for me because during the class we could know about the way of teaching, so it can be references for me as a teacher candidate. We can choose the  models  that we want to use in teaching our students.
                In the beginning of the class, our lecturer gave us command to work in group and read some article about the models of instruction. Then we did the jigsaw and back to our home group. In our home group we shared about the model of instruction that we had. I think this jigsaw technique was very usefull for us because we can have effisien time in the learning proccess.
                Based on the explanation from my friends there are 4 models of instruction. It is consits of direct instruction, lecture discussion, guided instruction, and the last one is group interaction. I got the lecture discussion model of instruction. In my opinion this models is like teacher center learning, and also teacher encourage students to think about the lesson with gave some questions to the students. So , there are the discussion between teacher and students by asking the question, but in the beginning of the class teacher give an explanation for the material first. Actually the lecture discussion model itself is the improvement from lecture model. So, in the lecture model there is no discussion, it is only passive students. While in the lecture discussion teacher involved students to the learning proccess, and make the students more active during the class.
                The other model of instruction is direct instruction, actually this model is similar with the lecture discussion because teacher give some question to the students and encourage the students to give their opinion. But, in the beginning of the class teacher start with gave the question to the students and then the question itself will develop by the students opinion. This is kinds of teacher center learning and there is no goup discussion in this model.
                Another model is guided instruction. Based on my friend explanation this model is like teacher as a guided to help students discover the conclusion or the problem solving from the lesson by themselves. So, the teacher just make a statement or question and let the students give their opinion. But when the discussion between teacher and students has out of the topic, the teacher give the clue to make the students back to the topic. In the end of the lesson teacher will do the closer, so teacher will guide the students to have a conclusion for the material.
                 And the last model is group instruction. This model is like community language learning method. So, the teacher let the students to make a group discussion. This model occurred because of the interaction social issue. So, the students have to make interaction social among them, that’s why the teacher let the students to do the group discussion.
                For all the models of instruction, I think I will used group interaction to teach my students. Because I want to help my students to learn by sharing knowledge with they friends. But, it is possible if I combine some model of instruction when I do teaching proccess because as my lecture said before, that we can used some of the model of instruction based on our objective or our goals in the lesson. eventhough there are some criteria to choose our model in teaching, but we have to concerned in our objective or our goals as the main criteria to do the teaching model.
                Now, I have already known about the models of instruction. So I think I will used some of these models when I do team teaching in school experience. Oww.. this material very usefull for me. Thanks miss ine, because you gave me the good references for teaching , and you make me understood about this material..

reflection journal LTM by mutmainnah


Refelction jurnal for language teaching methodologies
                The 3rd week meeting in LTM was very interesting for me. In this session we talked about multiple intelegences. In my opinion the multiple intelegences is very important for me as a teacher candidates because by know this material we can know about our students’ multiple intelegences. In my opinion multiple intelegences is the way of thinking and learning for each person.  Actually I have already learned about this material when I was in senior high school in psychology leasson. So, I already know about some kinds of MI, but in this leasson I can recall my memory about this.
                Based on this material, I can know what is my multiple intelegence ? especially when my lecture asked me to choose some of the characterisrics in some list that it is showed our multiple intelegences. From that list, I found that my multiple intelegences is musical intelegences because in this field there are so many my characteristics. But, actually I still confuse with my multiple intelegence because when I full fill the list of MI, I found that my score in musical intelegence and bodily kinestetic are almost equal,  but I prever to choose musical intelegence because I like music. But although I chosed musical intelegence, I am not sure with this, because I feel that sometimes my characteristics are like bodily kinestetic because I also like dancing.
                Actually I want to ask to my lecture, I feel that when I was in junior and senior high school my charasteristics are like in interpesonal intelegence because I liked to have a relationship with my friends and I liked to public speaking. But, it is only when I was in senior high school. While right now I feel that all of my characteristics in interpersonal intelegence lost and it changed into musical intelegence. So ,, does someone’s multiple intelegence can be changed???..... I really confuse about that. So, I think I will ask my lecture in the next meeting.
                Talking about multiple intelegence will help us to know my students’ multiple intelegence. So we can know about the effective way to teach our students.

reflection journal 2 for Humanistic Studies 1, by mutmainnah


                                                     
            Name is very important to know someone’s identity. Every one or even the things have a name to show the identity itself. Name is also making us easier to remember the things. Can you imagine if we don’t have name for a pen, we only called it as the thing that have ink and we use it to write something. It is a long name right? That’s why we need a name to make easier.
            My name is ‘Mutmainnah’, my father gave this name to me when I was born. Based on my mother story, she told me that my father gave me this name because he expected me to be a patient person and be calm person when there are some problems in my live Because the meaning of my name itself is ‘jiwa yang tenang’. So, my parents wish that I will be a good person in this world.
            When I was in kindergarten and in elementary school, I didn’t’ like my name. I feel that my name is sound so old, that’s why I want to change my name to a new one. But when I become adults and I know the meaning of my name, I really like my name and I feel so glad with my name, because I have wonderful and meaningful name. I think my name is appropriate for me. Because when I had some problem, I being calm down when I remember that my name is mutmainnah, meaning that I have to be patient and just relax to solve my problem. 
            Now, I really glad to my name and I don’t want to change my name to another name.
Because I realize that this is the best name for me. And god has given me this name by my parents, so I believe that god is always gave the best thing for me. There are no the other name which is appropriate for me, except ‘Mutmainnah’.
            Actually my friends are called me ‘imoy’. That’s my nick name. Some people know me as imoy, because my face is like Chinese people with the small eyes. That’s why some people called me imoy. But, my name is still mutmainnah.
            If I draw some symbol which is show my characteristics. I think I will draw a flower because my characteristics are cheerful and beautiful. Flowers have many beautiful colors and also flowers can give happiness for everyone who looked at them. It similar with me, I am cheerful and I want to give happiness to everyone who looked at me, not only from the colors but also from the smell is useful. Flowers have good smell and it can make everyone feel relax because of the flowers smell. I want to be like flowers, which can give more advantages to everyone and also looks beautiful with my colors.
